The Marketing Plan

Getting you the right job requires a creative plan.    We ask a lot of questions.  What kind of news do you want to do? What markets will you consider? What hours and working conditions are you willing to accept? What is your current contract status? When do you need the new job to start? How much money do you need? How will this next job prepare you for the one after that?  Then we aggressively pursue the jobs that come close to your ideal.

Sources

ETM learns of job openings through contact with news directors, general managers, producers, talent, friends and clients all over the country.  We also learn of openings through a myriad of website and internet job postings.  We work closely with consultants and headhunters.

Special Delivery

Some agents and managers send out boxes full of client tapes for every opening.  Some send client reels--for example, if a news director is looking for a blond female anchor, some agents will send a reel of 20 blond females.  We find these approaches impersonal, ineffective, and frankly, insulting to our clients.  In most cases, we send just one or two of our best-suited candidates and give each submission an individual pitch.  News directors appreciate this sort of selectivity because we help them with the screening process.

The Offer

When the match is right, the news director will make an offer and we negotiate the deal for you, taking into account your unique circumstances.  You are under no obligation to accept any offer.  We are available to advise you on the suitability of any job, but the final decision is yours.  We will work hard to get you the most money and the best possible terms.
